Get your Drift on

In our last post http://brewed-motorsports.blogspot.com/2011/07/brewed-motorsports-s13-ka-t-drift-car.html we shared all the sexy secrets surrounding the new Borg Warner EFR series turbo charger.  Now it’s simply time for some fun… take a moment to enjoy some sliding. Unfortunately it seems there was a shortage of lights for this Friday night Drift and Drag event creating some very dark spots on the track for our Go Pro.

Some day time shots with sound of the engine and turbo as well.

After dropping the EFR 6258 onto your Full Race manifold (replacing a Garrett GT28) we quickly re mapped the AEM EMS and hit the track. The first impression was we still maintained great response but really picked up a good amount of top end power. Where the GT28 fell off the 6258 EFR just kept pulling. This made for a very linear power band and was great for the street as well as sliding on the track, very predictable with plenty of power on tap any time you touch the throttle. Another thing we noticed (actually spectators noticed) was the sound the EFR made while spooling and under boost, this was certainly not your run of the mill turbo.
As expected we made it through the night at the track without a hitch, just a long night of driving, sliding and hanging out with friends. The EFR turbo also got a lot of attention, being so new, unique and performing so well everyone was interested to learn more, talk about popular by association.
Check out the links below to get a sneak peak at the parts Brewed is currently using on our  S13 track car.

South Korea Auto Show

The Korean Auto Show may not have been comparable in size to the SEMA or PRI shows in the states, however the Korean manufactures as well as imports from Japan, United States and Germany did not hold back. With great booths, displays and models (both cars and Korean women) the 2011 Korean Auto Show is the perfect place to get a feel for the OE Automotive market in South Korea.
With an all but complete lack of any aftermarket manufacturing companies present at the show a motorsports enthusiast may feel some disappointment upon arrival. This feeling is however short lived as many manufactures not only brought out new prototypes but also many different factory built race cars. Everything from light weight GM FWD 4cyl powered road race cars to a fully prepared Hyundai Genesis Coupe.  Of course the female models kept the cameras flashing and the Korean men on edge and blushing.
Enjoy the pictures and keep an eye on Korea where a unique (for lack of better terms) Tuner scene is growing by the second. Special thanks to my good friend Youngdae Kim of ProConcept for inviting me to the show.
